Game of F'ing Thrones: the F'ing Show
Game of F'ing Thrones: the F'ing Show
I just got through with seasons 1-3 and it kills me that I can't afford HBO to watch it tonight. When have the episodes come out on iTunes? Do they appear right away or do they pull a Jamie on you? I've got a couple of iTunes cards and am interested in buying a show from them for once.

Looks like that's correct. Internet really sucks. Stutters like crazy.
Guess no iTunes users here?

I haven't read anything either.
Not gunna.
Yeah, don't .
I read all of 'em between seasons, and now I know what's going to happen to Arya and the Hound and Quentyn Martell and Littlefinger ... it kinda spoils it ...

Yeah. It was Ice, Ned Stark's big sword that he used for executions, and the sword that he was executed with.

and i have come to enjoy the Hound.
Me too. He surprised me when he saved Sansa, not because he saved her, because that was his job, but later when he went to her room and tried to get her to escape with him after he said "fiddlesticks the King" and walked away from the battle, leaving Tyrion to save the city.
That was awesome !

Also, my first impression of the new Daario is that I don't like him as much as the Daario from the bath tub scene.
The first guy looked bigger and more of a scoundrel.

Yeah, human waste. What happened? That guy was perfect for the role. I was confused by the change but just rolled with it.

Wait, who got changed? Are we talking about Khaleesi's guy?
Yes. The sell-sword from the last city she conquered that beheaded his other two companions. The actor from season 3 was more - impressive.
In season 4 you first see him playing a sword balancing dare crouched in the sand.

Yeah, the actor who plays Daario was changed from Ed Skrien to Michiel Huisman for reasons as yet unexplained.
You might read Kevin McFarland's to-be-weekly recap of the last episode at BoingBoing. He has NOT read the books and so is approaching the HBO series on its own. Further recaps (please note: by Leigh Alexander who HAS read the books and whose first recap was of season 2, episode 7) and other Game of Thrones-related pages at BoingBoing can be found here which are in reverse chronological order.
McFarland also points to this page which has the cumulative screentime for most of the named characters in the HBO series over the first three seasons (so NOT including the season 4 opener as I type this). Notably Catelyn Stark had slightly less screentime--91:14--over the the first three seasons than Eddard Stark had--94:35--despite his basically single season.

I think this is more of a teaser than a spoiler, but avert your eyes if you wish:

the sword isn’t cast, I think. The blank that the smith uses to make the sword would be cast, though. Which is, I am sure, what we are seeing there.
However, since we do not know how Valyrian steel works, it is entirely possible that it HAS to be cast, because once it is cooled, it becomes unworkable (or some such technobabble nonsense

I'm sorry Dave...

I figure it was probably something like this
"Hey, I gotta be me. Don't like it, don't read it." - Schnicky
Yes, exactly - pounded into final shape, not cast. Even if the metal was melted down from another sword it would have been shaped from a blob of steel. What they portrayed was purely for casual viewer acceptance, not any sort of accuracy.
Interesting episode there, BTW.

did you notice the colors?
everything is bright orange and yellow, like a low autumn sun.
lots of browns and yellows, and bright sunlight and sharp shadows.
it was a real change from all the grey and blue of last season
