I went to see Obsession.

That movie is pretty messed up. It's a good movie, but it's messed up.

Good movie about the weather. And also about World War II and D-Day

I just watched The Long Walk. It was meh. I can recommend it only if you liked Stephen King’s Bachman Books and Different Seasons collections.

Under the Skin - Scarlet Johansson
It's streaming for free, but I forgot which channel, Should not be hard to find.
Kinda weird. The story is told with stunning visuals and. magnificent photography, and about two paragraphs of dialogue. It's one of those movies that demands your attention; you're trying to figure out what is going on right till the last.
ScarJo does a nude scene.
It's worth an hour and a half, if you like that kind of stuff. I enjoyed it.

The Invite is a good movie.

Penelope Cruz is insanely attractive.

This is a crazy dark and weird movie. Not sure I'd recommend it to anyone unless, for example, you enjoyed the last Cronenberg film, "Crimes of the Future." I did like it, but it's a challenge.

Well, I went to see The Odyssey. It was good and I liked it. Those who are up in arms about it are just stupid and likely they only half-read the Cliff Notes version that you get exposed to in junior high. I'm gonna see it again and this time at the IMAX.

That's quite an endorsement. Most of the time I don't even want to see good movies twice in such a short period.

I saw The Odyssey at a 70 mm Dolby IMAX theater during its opening week (I believe that this theater is only one of 26 similarly equipped theaters in the US). The movie (with end credits--yes, I do watch those) is just short of 3 hours long, so at that theater it is being shown in 4 hour slots of 10 am, 2 pm, 6 pm and 10 pm (I saw the 10 am). I timed the opening ads/commercials/trailers at 40 minutes which began at 9:50 am, within minutes of my sitting down in my seat.

DO NOTE: it is LOUD, but not so loud that I worried about my hearing.

The last time I READ The Odyssey was a half-century ago in a high school honors-program humanities class where reading that and "The Illiad" were NOT optional, so I cannot say how rigorous was Nolan's depiction. Even at 3 hours, I'm certain that many parts were left out or given too short depictions. I am tempted to re-read The Odyssey.

The movie is magnificent. I was totally engaged throughout the movie despite its length, There are parts I would like to discuss but will not do so here to avoid spoilers.

I have some Loop reusable earplugs. They come in a case that attaches to my keychain, so they're available at a moment's notice. They're really useful.

The last thing I saw in theaters was The Mandalorian (and Grogu). I liked it, but it's just basically a long string of spectacle that gets bigger and more explosive as it goes. No Shakespeare here. I also saw Tron: Ares at the theater. AND I LIKED IT. I LOVED IT. Especially when they went to Tron: classic land.

If you are into 80s style "horror/action" movies, I liked The Toxic Avenger. It has lots of very over the top violence and gore, but in a... funny way? like so obviously fake that it's not disgusting. I'm not sure if it is, but it felt like it's based on a comic book.

There is a new version, not specifically a remake/sequel/reboot, just a new "different" Toxic Avenger made in 2023, starring Peter Dinklage (as the Toxic Avenger) and Elijah Wood. I think it's on HULU now (or pay on other platforms). It is a Lloyd Kaufman - TROMA production like the original.

Anyway, if you like that sort of thing (and I do): transgressive punk antisocial comedy grind-house films, The Toxic Avenger is one of the greatest of all time. There was a comic book, as well as a children's syndicated cartoon...possibly one of the worst ideas ever brought to light, but both came out after the movie achieved fairly high cult popularity status. IMO none of the sequels or this new version really matches the original for it's grabbing the late 80's nihilism zeitgeist, although they all have their moments. Toxic Avenger IV is the closest as it brings back the original voice actor and is also one the grossest and most offensive movies ever made...a laugh riot, but don't watch with family (unless you know they are as sick as you are).

I saw The Sheep Detectives

Lighthearted murder mystery with cute speaking animals. Live action. Not for young kids unless you want to explain death and murder.

I liked it
