Maybe you can install that later. You know, when you're rebuilding after the earthquake.

A clip show shows clips from old episodes.

I'm sure it's working fine.

Yes, it's working fine from a technical standpoint.

A clip show is where instead of writing a plot for an episode, they concoct something cheap with a couple of the actors and just fill the show with clips from earlier episodes.

They mostly do it to save money.
ok
I thought it was freezing and stuttering.

remember, my current computer is a 300 mHz pismo.
it doesn't do youtube too well.

I've been using Ninja video ... it's great, they have a lot of shows in HD.

Update: got it all set up. Look how uncluttered it is!

I'm not 100% done yet ... I need to get longer HDMI cables plus some more wire molding so the cables are flush against the wall. But that's it! Works fine, too. Got the 360 and Mini hooked up just fine (in this shot the lady's watching Cougar Town on Ninja Video).
Thanks for the picture. Now move the soft to the right and rotate it 90 degrees counterclockwise so its directly in front of the screen.

Yeah, we're planning to do that. The couch to the right is our old urban black leather couch that totally doesn't match anything. We'll switch it with the soft one (and eventually replace it). Also we're going to get a nice big coffee table ... I've got a great dining room table I've had for awhile that's hand-carved (from Indonesia); I'm going to cut the legs short and toss it in there.
Sorry to be picking at your furniture placement. I assume you'll have shades down on the windows most of the time? Otherwise the screen will be hard to view. Why didn't you center the screen in the space between the windows? Your other apparent option is to put the screen over the fireplace, but I'd hate doing that even more.

It sounds like it'll be nice after you're done.

Yeah, we've got blinds over the windows, but the wall on the right-hand side of the photo doesn't get huge amounts of direct sunlight (at least not in winter), so we probably won't keep them closed. Actually we have no trouble at all seeing the screen. That may change later on, I dunno.

The screen isn't centered between the windows because of the orientation of the room; the seating area isn't centered with the windows. So it looks a bit wonky, but it works when you're sitting on a couch.

And originally I planned to put it above the fireplace, but in the event the mantle was so high that viewing the screen was a major neck-craning situation, like being front row at a movie theatre.
So you need tall chairs too. ;)

Yeah, I'd never put a TV over my fireplace either.

That's really great news.

Making it easier to hook Macs to HDTVs will speed up convergence.

It seems no matter what you buy, the "new and improved" version hits the streets exactly two weeks later. at least, the new version isn't $100 less than what you paid.

You hope.

Actually, after thinking about this for a few hours, I think I'd rather just have a Mini DisplayPort with an HDMI adapter, since Mini DisplayPorts can also be easily hooked up to VGA or DVI connections, using $28 adapters.

Yeah, I think Apple would just throw in an extra adapter.

Did they give up the dispaly port ? If the HDMI is in addition to what is already there, than it's a good thing.

If it's in addition, then I think it's a good thing, too, but I think the rumors are reporting that they'll replace Mini DisplayPort with HDMI, and since DisplayPort has higher bandwidth available(up to 17.2Gbps vs HDMI's 10.2Gbps), I wouldn't want them to do that, when adapters are so cheap and Mini DisplayPort is already common on all Macs used within the past several years.

Don't buy cables or adapters from places like Best Buy.

'Course not.

I bought it from Monoprice. Their site seems to be down, but it's an HDMI adapter with Toslink to provide sound. I think it was around $60.
it was the toslink that ran the price up

That's interesting to me, because toslink cables are fairly inexpensive, too(I got two of them for $5 including shipping and toslink-to-mini-toslink adapters).

Two-in-one cables are always more expensive than the sum of their parts, though. :(
