I would hope that the scarcity problems manifesting in 2026 would put pressure on software to maybe stem the bloat a touch...

I respectfully disagree, but really only because fast twitch FPS make me nauseous to play.

In the "fly your ship" genre, nothing's come close to the original from '94, IMO (and I've tried them all, battlefront, squadron, rebel assault).
